Macedonia beats Germany 86-75 at Eurobasket – Poland 2009

Macedonia has earned its first victory in the European basketball championship, breaking open a tight game with a third-quarter run that led to an 86-75 victory over Germany.

Dime Tasovski hit a 3-pointer to spark the 14-2 spurt on Sunday that made it 69-52 with just under eight minutes to play in the second-round Group E game.
Point guard Vrbica Stefanov scored 25 for Macedonia. Tasovski finished with 13 points and five steals, and American-born forward Jeremiah Massey added 16 points and four rebounds.
Shooting guard Lucca Staiger led five Germans in double figures with 14 points.
In Group E games later Sunday, France takes on Croatia and defending champion Russia plays Greece.
The top four teams in Group E and Group F advance to the quarterfinals.
